Small Universe, Micro Cosmic Orbit

Small Universe or Micro Cosmic Orbit meditation is one of my favourite practises. It's also a root of all ChiKung because it opens front and back channels of torso. In the beginning one gets a chi ball into Tan Tien or DanTien, which is elixir field deep behind the navel. This is done by breathing slowly and guiding chi into TanTien. When one feels warmth in TanTien it's easier and more effective to start moving energy thru Micro Cosmic Orbit.

One of the best ways to start practising Micro Cosmic Orbit is Spring Forest Chikung's meditation. Mantak Chia has also dvd for  opening Micro Cosmic Orbit.

Many of ChiKung series tell not to do those before MC Orbit is opened. After MCO is opened one can start practising Cosmic Orbit or Grand Circulation.

Best Luck

Health Chi Kung

Chi Kung is one part of Chinese medicine. Rather than trying to heal diseases Chinese medicine is trying to keep you healthy. This is being done by keeping body balanced within bodys natural energy channels.
Chi Kung moves are meant for opening energy channels, balancing Yin and Yang and gatherning more Chi which is universal energy or life force.
It is believed that if one is too much Yang, one ages faster, so Chi Kung often tries to get body more Yin.

Here's BaduanJin series which is also known as eight section exercises.
Chinese Health QiGong Association recommends doing BaduanJin series.

Part 4
Chinese medicine is often divided in three parts:

1. Chi Kung

2. Herbs

3. Acupuncture.

Chi Kung also strenghtens body and gets it more flexiple. Tai Chi is one part of Chi Kung which originally was martial art but is nowadays also used for health purposes.

It is believed that any disease or illness can be cured with Chinese medicine. All the diseases and illnesses are belived to be just unbalances in energy structure.

Music and chikung

For me music and chikung belong together strongly.
I use music when I do chikung for several reasons:
1. It's great for knowing how much time you have, so that you can really let yourself relax. Use meditation music and choose music that lasts as long as you are going to do chikung.
2. Music covers small noises, again making relaxation easier.
3. Right type of music really can do miracles by itself.
4. If one uses same music everytime body allready knows what to do when music starts.
5. Music is energy. Mantra songs are good example of music containing lots energy.

My Daily Practise

My practise is starting to develop a routine. I do small universe meditation from Spring Forest Qigong everyother day and do Yi Chin Ching and standing exercises from Xing Yi Quan internal Kung Fu when I have not done any meditation + I add Badua Jing and Spring Forest Qigongs exercises when I have time to. This way I can keep balance in fysical and mental form of qigong. First when I started doing qigong I had a problem with my body getting tense from standing still forms. I felt really good energy flowing doing Yi Chin Ching and other standing sequences, but couldn't get over with my body putting stop to my practice. I seeked for a teacher and started doing more moving version of qigong including Badua Jing series.

Awaken Healing Energy Through Tao

Awaken Healing Energy Through Tao, written by Mantak Chia is basic book of all Healing Tao's systems.
Mantak Chia is a teacher who divides opinions. Mantak has done lot of work to bring old chinese systems which were secrets of only certain monks in China, to western people. Mantak has changed and developed these systems so that they are easier to learn when living in modern western world. This is thing that divides opinions as some think that things Mantak Chia teaches are not genuine enough. I can say from my own experience that Healing Tao system works.
Awaken Healing Energy Through Tao has most of old Taoist practises under one cover including classics: Inner Smile, Six Healing Sounds and Micro Cosmic Orbit.

One should not hurry with results as results come slowly, but Healing Tao system is one of the most easiest to learn and because of that you can easily get results.
Overdoing practises in chikung is never good idea. Progress comes at its own speed and cannot be hurried with overdoing. Most problems people are experiensing are result from either going to more advanced practises too soon or not following the system closely enough.

Qigong forHealth and Martial Arts

Another book by Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming. This on is really basic and good book to start practising chi kung. Book has illustrated Baduan Jing series which is one of the famous chinese series of chi kung movements. Baduan Jing is often used as a first series of movements to learn and one can see thousands of people doing Baduan Jing at a chinese parks. I often use Baduan Jing as a morning gymnastic. Book also has more advanced exercises such as small circulation which is something any serious chi kung enthusiast will start parctising in some stage of an art. There is also standing sequences from muscle and tendon change also called as I Chin Ching. I Chin Ching is powerful exercises which contains 12 postures to develop body and mind.

Qigong for Health and Martial arts can be recommended for anyone willing to start chi kung or who wants to develop to a deeper level.

The Way of Power

Master Kam Chuen Lam's book has a complete system for chi kung.
Book starts with basic warm up exercises which you are supposed to do everytime before you start your chi kung session. You can get very high levels of energy from these standing exercises. Most of the exercises are postures in which you are supposed to stand for 20 minutes. When you have achieved power to stand in one posture for 20 minutes you are supposed to move to next one. These exercises are very similar to those found in chinese internal kung fu styles. Infact these book is written for those practising martial arts. It is known fact that you can have really powerful body with these kind of postures, but I don't recommend those for anyone doing chi kung just for health or enlightment purposes.
